Recap 1: Breaking the Myths of Design Thinking

Design Thinking is not much to do with thinking but a lot of doing and sweating profusely during the process”

“Design Thinking is about listening, understanding, imagining, trying, testing, improving and improving again, putting the people at the heart of the process, to make the experience better”

“Iterative is doing it again, doing it better & repeating the process.  This is a key core spirit of Design Thinking.  Through this mindset and behaviors, we are not afraid of FAILURE.  Failure with purpose. Understanding why we fail and improve it.”

“Asking the right questions. Why. Why not. Why else. And being obsessed observers. In the real world. Into the fingers, hearts, and minds of the people”

Recap 2:Design Thinking Landscape in Vietnam

“After 5 years introducing Design Thinking in Vietnam, Design Thinking awareness has tremendously increased, from Tech-driven organizations to other industries as well.  The desire to learn and apply has increased as well, especially from leadership level.  We hope in the next few years, companies will truly embrace Design Thinking as it is not about ‘thinking’ “theory” or ‘training’ but lots of trial & errors to truly integrate the mindsets, methods and the belief in the impact of Design Thinking  into evey level of the organizations.”

Recap 3: Equipping the Younger Generation with Design Thinking

“International schools are using IB (International Baccalaureate) in teaching, which is aligned with Design Thinking. Problem solving. Experimental, Inquiry-based. Asking all the right questions. Being curious.  So teaching Design Thinking to kids is definitely in our direction to help equip young generations to be better innovators and problem-solvers.”

Recap 4: How AI is Reshaping Design Thinking

“AI is a great co-pilot to Design Thinking.  It help tos ‘mine’ different insights and saves labour time processing.  For us, it is all about human-centric solutions. We still strongly believe in organizations building teams that are excited for the unknown, for the future.   A team that is ready to fight for any waves that come their way.  We believe the mindsets and behaviors of Design Thinking will equip us with the skills that are here to stay, regardless of any technology enhancement.”

“The skills we see that will stay that empathetic, emotional to customer’s needs. Decision-making and sense-making.  Data brings data and insights.  Human sense-making brings stories.”

“Another skill that is here to stay is creative problem framing.  AI can provide quantities of rapid solutions but identifying the right problems to solve needs to be done with a human touch. So framing the problem is still crucial.”

Recap 5: The Future of Design Thinking

“AI will make the Design Thinking process more fun as we will focus on the meaningful and strategic parts, instead of the data proceeding work such as synthesis or prototyping creation…So it will be a paradigm shift from data mining to ‘idea mining’ and moving from ‘customers’ needs understanding to needs anticipation’. AI gives the “what” and Design Thinking gives the ‘so-what’ to provide sustainable solutions to create impact.”

“Folks in the Design Thinking area should start to think about their skills, moving them away from being sole specialists to generalist specialists.  Reimagine their roles.  There will be a lot more job integration but also a lot of job creation at the same time. So where does our mindset take us?”
