All Great Ideas Start With a Doodle

Before Alexander Graham Bell first had a vision of how he would create the telephone, he was just sketching ideas on a piece of tissue. That’s right. One of humanity’s greatest inventions began with a doodle! Pablo Picasso also constantly doodled – some say it was the backbone of his art! While Frank Gehry, the designer behind the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao – one of the most celebrated works in the world of modern architecture – was also doodling when an idea burst into life.

Here at Doodle Brands, doodling is the first, important step from which creativity and innovation is born. The beauty of doodling is in its simplicity. Everyone can engage in this process and be rewarded with a fresh new perspective or an exciting new idea.
Doodling is an integral part of collaboration for both Design Thinking and Branding. With a sharpie pen, lots of post-it notes and enthusiastic minds, all channeling their curiosity and creativity, sparks soon start to fly.

I have seen it time and time again at our Design Thinking and Branding workshops. One doodle stems from another. Soon the key elements of a story start to materialise. That’s when the magic happens. Ideas flourish and brands are born.
Our clients are often taken aback at what they produce when doodling. Inside all of us there is creativity and innovative ideas. Alexander Bell, Frank Gehry and Pablo Picasso – they knew they had to doodle to stir their imaginations and collect their thoughts and then… eureka!

That’s why we apply this methodology to all our client projects. Curious to learn more? Let’s meet up and have a chat about it.
